Model's Own wonderland collection- swatches

Hiyaaaaaaaaa!
I know it's been forever. I've just had a sudden urge to blog and here I am! I turned 26 last week and got the Model's Own wonderland collection as a gift.
I'm currently wearing Southern lights, a purple-grey glitter akin to Juicy Jules

It's so special and sparkly. This is two coats. Not looking forward to the removal though.

I used the top coat Snow flake over Rimmel Celebrity bash an hated it.

It really didn't go with the red. It's a shiny, flaked glitter. It will look excellent over black or a pale colour though.
I will post the rest when I wear them.

Hair: Pink tips

I finally bit the bullet and dip dyed my hair! I have spent months researching and getting inspiration for this but I was still unsure of the colour choice when I was buying the dye! I really am pleased I went with hot pink, it's very me and very summery.
I got all my products in Sally's and my hairdressing friend Kirsty did it for me. All in all, it cost less than £20! The pink dye is Pinkissimo by Crazy Colour.
Kirsty bleached my ends with powdered bleach and a 40% 12vol cream peroxide. She used a feathering technique so it didn't come out in a straight line. This was left for 45mins and lifted out my previous colour. She bleached it again for another 30 mins to give it a lighter base. She applied the pink twice (we tried mixing with conditioner for a lighter pink but that wouldn't take on my hair) rinsed and I was done!
I love the fact that I can change the colour of my hair easily now, as I'm very fickle, and I'm already eying up Pine Green for a Christmas hair colour!

Personal: The launch of Sian in Southsea

Welcome to Sian in Southsea, formally Miss Dolly gal.

I said in a post a few weeks ago that I felt I had out grown my old blog and have been working to create Sian in Southsea since then.  I feel really inspired by where I live and my focus from now on will be more on local events and my personal life.  As I said in that post, nothing is changing as far as beauty and fashion is concerned, my posts will just have a lot more variety so I can post about what I want, without restrictions.

I hope you all stay with me, even if you don't live in Southsea.

Lots of love,
Sian x

Clothes: Outfits I have worn

I love Claire's instagram outfits each day so I've cheekily borrowed her idea of showing the clothes rather than being in the outfit. This makes life much easier, I'm too shy to pose for outfit pics and mirror pics never show the outfit properly. It also means I re-create an outfit at any time, quickly.
I'll stop rambling now and get on with it!

I'm still working on my blog changes, I've had a few delays but hopefully I should be able to get my domain and name change sorted soon. Out of interest, how important do you think a .com is compared to a .co.uk?

Blog lovin!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin I thought I'd set up blog lovin since I cannot find anyway to fix my GFC. It's because blogger changed my URL to co.uk but I cannot find how to change my GFC URL to co.uk. If anyone knows how, please let me know!

Clothes: Been shopping

1. men's large Mickey mouse T-shirt, £6 Primark
2. Scarf print blouse, £9 Matalan
3. Hot pink hair extensions £1 each Primark

I went shopping on Thursday after work and realised it had been a long time since I shared my buys with you. Really cheap buys due to lots of going out this month but buying anything always makes me smile.

I mentioned the T-shirt and blouse in yesterday's post, love both and I should have worn both by Sunday so I shall post outfit pictures.

The hair extensions also deserve their own post. I now own a blue set and a baby pink set and am so, so impressed with them. They add a crazy pop of colour to my hair which is perfect for my fickle mind.

Personal: Weekend fun & likes/dislikes 002

Wrist wear:cat sitting:Best friend
Wedding posing:kids ride:bracelet
Soldier dress:blue hair:breakfast
Club stamp:nude nails:daisy chain

A few photos from my phone and instagram from the last few weekends. They mainly consist of comedy going out photos and home made bracelets, I'm not sure what that says about me.
I'm back to work after a lovely long weekend which is horrible however, loving the fact that it's Friday tomorrow already!

I'm going to a 30th birthday party on Saturday and I bought a new blouse to wear to it today. I'd had my eye on it for a while and when I went to buy it today, it was half price! Love that. I'm going to post a haul tomorrow including it. I'll finish with some likes/dislikes from the past week

Likes

001. Men's tshirts. I got one in Primark today. Cheap and far better prints than women's.
002. Friendship bracelets. I found some embroidery thread in Wilkinsons and now can't stop making my own bracelets. I find it very therapeutic.
003. Disneyland Paris. Potentially planning a trip for the end of November. Über excited.

Dislikes

001. Rain, rain go away.
002. Long fringe. Need a trim.
003. End of TOWIE and MIC. I love reality tat tv. At least Geordie Shore is back at the end of the month!

Victorious Vintage day 1

Some photos from yesterday's free vintage event at Portsmouth dockyard. It's day 2 today and completely free. If you've not been yet, I suggest going down there today. Here's some photos of the event.

There are plenty of lovely stalls to look at, mainly locally based, lots of nice food to munch upon (I hear the crepes are fantastic) and 2 stages of life music.

I had planned on going today and starting my Portsmouth street style photography but my hangover got the better of me and so I've stayed in bed all day!

This was a fantastic event in Portsmouth and hopefully it'll be turned into an annual event. It's certainly something I would go to each year.

Victorious Vintage and Jubilee nails nail

This weekend, my mum and I are going to Victorious Vintage at Portmouth's historic dockyards. It's a completely free event including bands, vintage clothing stalls, tea and vintage make overs. If you live in the Portsmouth area, I would strongly recommend you take a visit. I shall be wondering about taking photos for my new Portsmouth street style feature so say hello if you see me.

In the spirit of things I also thought I'd get involved in doing Jubilee themed nails. Here's a quick tutorial on each nail.
I love them. Part of me wishes that I'd done the little finger with a different pattern but I quite like the clashing/matching contrast.

001.Anchor-base coat of Barry M Cobalt blue, white nail art polish and I drew the anchor using black liquid eyeliner
002.The leopard print is done the Gem Fatale way, using Barry M White, Cobalt blue and Chanel Dragon.
003. Base of Chanel Dragon and Barry M white dotted using a dotting tool. You can get these really cheaply on EBay.
004. Base of Cobalt Blue, a star using a white nail art polish and then another star on top with a red nail art polish.

Apart from Victorious Vintage, I don't have much else planned for the long weekend. I might take Graham out for food at some point, there's a New York style steak house called Yonkers that I've just discovered and want to try.
I Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Likes and dislikes 001

Likes
001. Cats. I've been cat sitting for my friend Sarah and it's so nice to have cat time. I've spent all afternoon talking to them, I really am a crazy cat lady! I've been campaigning for a cat since we bought our own place and am currently trying to find a persian breeder in Hampshire.
002. Sunshine! This last week has been glorious, I really hope the weather lasts now.
003. Knee length dresses. I'm quite self conscious of my legs but I hate wearing jeans or leggings in this heat. I found a lovely mid length coral dress in Primark
for £5!
004. Crazy golf. New addiction. I played 3 times last week at the Pirate themed course on Clarence Pier in Southsea. I even won a game! £3.50 for an hour's hilarity.
005. White plimsolls. I've never bought into the white plimsoll thing before. I recently caved, bought some and love them. Why? A. They're crazy cheap, £2.50 for new shoes, B. they're hella comfy and C. They go with everything.

Dislikes
001. Patchy tan. I'm scrubbing and scrubbing. I want to reapply but I know it will make the patches worse if I do. I'm wearing jeans until my pasty legs can be golden(or orange depending on your tan opinion) again.
002. Working in an office in the heat. Phew. No air con for some reason. Sunshine streaming in the window. Sticking to my chair. Yuck.
003. Removing glitter polish. I had an incident and spilled nail polish remover all over me. I've bought a twist off nail polish removal pot to see if it's easier.
004. Lack of maxi dresses. I'm fussy with the style of my maxi's. I've seen so many amazing racer back styles but they just don't suit me. I prefer a bandeau style and cannot find one that will suit me to wear to a birthday party. Stressy times!

I have more likes than dislikes! I'm pretty happy all together at the moment. I'm not sure if many people do these posts anymore but you should! Link me if you do.

Times they are-a changin'

As you can probably tell, my heart is no longer in my current blog. I've been sporadically posting for quite some time now and I am no longer excited when I start writing a post. I took the decision to just stick to make up back in October but by doing that, I feel like my personality stopped coming through in my posts. They're very clinical and I enjoyed writing my blog far more when I posted about my life and what I wanted to post about.

So what am I doing about it? I had a long chat with fellow blogger Naomi yesterday and came to realise that I'm inspired by where I live. So from now on, I will be posting more about me and my life. I'm also going to be posting far more about my home town and have already had a tonne of ideas. My blog name is going to change, as is the layout. I'm going to bring the change in gradually (as I need to get my design ideas sorted) but I will be injecting a whole lot more personality in my posts in the meantime. I'll still be posting about beauty and nails so don't worry, nothing's changing there!

I'm really excited about this, and I hope you guys stick around.

To kick things off, I'll be posting a likes and dislikes in a bit.

Model's own Ibiza mix

I have read so many posts on this nail polish so I'm conscious of repeating what's already been said. I got this polish a few weeks ago and have since worn it over black and white polish so I thought a comparison post might be useful.

The polish itself is a glitter mix of fine and larger hexagonal glitter in pink, gold, bronze and blue. I've used 3 coats in both pictures. Comparing the two, I prefer it over black. It had a flakey, glitter ball effect over black whereas I'm more conscious of the actual glitter particles over white.

I had quite a traumatic removal. I won't go into detail but I ended up spilling nail varnish remover over myself. I still went on to re-apply it over the white though.

I feel it's a great summer version of my Christmas glitter nails and will probably end up slapping it over many other polishes throughout June, July and August.

Let me know if there are any other colour you'd like to see it over.

The polish is available from Boots and the Model's Own site and costs £5

Hair growth May 2011-May 2012

I'm just stealing my Instagram photos to up date you guys as I realise not every one has Twitter or Instagram.
I've been growing my hair since Feb 2011 and this is my progress so far. I'm pleased with the result, especially since one side was so incredibly short (see here to see my previous haircut) I can't lie and say I've done anything special with it, I'm just lucky to have healthy hair that grows quickly. I have been using Herbal Essences intensive mask instead of conditioner though, and I love it. I just re purchased with my Sainsbury's order and I can't recommend it enough. Leaves my hair smelling divine and super soft.

I might update my hair history since the last one I did ended in Jan 2010. What do you think?

Revlon Cloud

I spied this gem whilst routing round Poundland, it's part of Revlon's quick dry polish range and is the most unusual colour. In some light it's grey, some it's pale blue and some it's pale lilac. Perfect for pastelly Spring nails.

Colour b4 review

I did the stupid thing and dyed my hair black last summer. I've pretty much been trying to get rid of it since but I've been left with black ends and brown roots where I've been growing my hair. I finally took the plunge and bought some Colour b4 when I saw it was much cheaper in Wilkinsons (it's was between £8-9 instead of £11-12)
Colour b4, if you've not come across it, is a home hair colour stripping kit that promises to return your hair back to it's natural colour.
Here's what my hair looked like before

Natural roots, dark ends.

And the dark ends.
I used extra strength as I was removing black, and left it on for a full hour. It's very much like mixing a home dye and applying, I found one box just about did my hair as it's very thick. Apparently the rinsing part is the most important, as this is how the previous colour is gotten rid of. I rinsed my hair for over 15 mins, dried and was left with this.

Comparatively much lighter hair! The box didn't mention whether you could use conditioner afterwards, and I forgot to check so my hair was very much like old rope!
I washed it normally the next day and here's how it's settled since.

The very ends of my hair are still pretty dark but the two colours are now far more blended. I'm a little hesitant to dye over the top, as I think the ends won't take.

All in all, I can see a massive improvement in the warmth of my hair colour which is exactly what I wanted and was happy with the result. I could use it a further 2 more times to completely remove the dark ends but I'm happy enough to give my hair a break for now.

Update- it's now been a while since I used Colour b4 and I haven't dyed it since. My hair is definitely brown rather than black now but I still have darker ends. Should I give it another go or leave it well alone now? Let me know what you think.

Black and gold

Dress-Select
Shoes-Primark
This is what I wore out last night. I made way too much effort for where we went but who cares! It's nice to do that sometimes.
I used a pigment and glitter dust from Collection for the gold and a matte black from a Sleek palette. The eye lashes are from the Elegant touch -Paris Hilton collab and I got them from Poundland.

As you can see, I've had my full fringe cut back in and I totally love it. Can't believe I went without it for so long! My blogging is very off at the moment, hence the lack of posts. I can't decide which direction I want Missdollygal to take but I'm hoping to make a decision soon. I have been using instagram for nail pictures recently so follow me on there and twitter- missdollygal for more frequent updates.

Mac Viva Glam Nicki

This little treasure arrived a week or so ago but I've only just worn it. I knew as soon as I saw it that I'd need it. I passed up on Pink Friday- the previous Mac/Nicki Minaj collab as that shade of pink really looks bad on me but I had to have this one.
It seems to look slightly different on people so here's how it fairs on me.

I have naturally dark pink lips and I think this brings out the pink (rather than the coral) in Viva Glam Nicki. I have terribly dry lips at the moment though, and this lipstick does cling to the driest patches so plenty of lip balm is needed.

3 new nail polishes

All by NYC, a little 3 for 2 treat.

I've only worn High Line Green so far, and it's already a favourite. The other's are Midtown (hot pink) and Lincoln Square Lavender.

Smudgy look

My precious cat was called Smudgy. That's a nice little fact for you. On to my face now. Just a casual night out to a friend's for drinks last night so I thought a smudgy, smokey eye would work nicely.

Out came Boots 17 wild Metallic eyes in Midnight.

Easy peasy to apply. Just with a finger and blended out at the edges with a dense blending brush (something like a mac217)

Leaves a very lived in, creased up glittery effect. Very similar to a recent post I've seen but I can't find the author :(
Instead of fussing about with liner, I threw on a pair of eBay lashes and let the lash band do the work.

Lilac nails

I've been neglectful again! I think I'll just have to come to terms with my sporadic posting. Have some nail porn to perve at and hopefully you'll forgive me

Nicki Minaj Stupid Hoe look

I do love Ms Minaj. Her crazy fashion and make up looks are awesome so I decided to use one from her Stupid Hoe video to inspire my Friday night make up.

I used this picture

but decided to change to colours to compliment my outfit. How amazing are the pastel yellow lips though?

this is what I came up with

I drew a winged out shape using white pencil liner, filled it in with NYX Milk pencil and patted on a mint green shadow from an EBay 120 palette.

Face- Mac studio fix fluid, Rimmel Stay matte powder, Benefit Dallas Bronzer and Mac Pink Swoon blush

Eyes- UDPP, Gosh White Kohl, NYX jumbo pencil Milk, EBay 120 eyeshadow palette, Maybelline gel liner, Mac Splashproof mascara, Primark eyelashes.

Lips- Mac Costa Chic

Really, really love paste colours and just think this is perfect for Spring. I need to try the pink eyes/yellow lips though- any ideas on where I can get yellow lipstick?

Nails of late

I've not done any make up looks recently that have been worth posting so I'm very sorry for the lack of them. I'm sure the same old neutral smokey eye isn't very interesting. Here's some nails I've had instead.
