Likes and dislikes 001

Likes
001. Cats. I've been cat sitting for my friend Sarah and it's so nice to have cat time. I've spent all afternoon talking to them, I really am a crazy cat lady! I've been campaigning for a cat since we bought our own place and am currently trying to find a persian breeder in Hampshire.
002. Sunshine! This last week has been glorious, I really hope the weather lasts now.
003. Knee length dresses. I'm quite self conscious of my legs but I hate wearing jeans or leggings in this heat. I found a lovely mid length coral dress in Primark
for £5!
004. Crazy golf. New addiction. I played 3 times last week at the Pirate themed course on Clarence Pier in Southsea. I even won a game! £3.50 for an hour's hilarity.
005. White plimsolls. I've never bought into the white plimsoll thing before. I recently caved, bought some and love them. Why? A. They're crazy cheap, £2.50 for new shoes, B. they're hella comfy and C. They go with everything.

Dislikes
001. Patchy tan. I'm scrubbing and scrubbing. I want to reapply but I know it will make the patches worse if I do. I'm wearing jeans until my pasty legs can be golden(or orange depending on your tan opinion) again.
002. Working in an office in the heat. Phew. No air con for some reason. Sunshine streaming in the window. Sticking to my chair. Yuck.
003. Removing glitter polish. I had an incident and spilled nail polish remover all over me. I've bought a twist off nail polish removal pot to see if it's easier.
004. Lack of maxi dresses. I'm fussy with the style of my maxi's. I've seen so many amazing racer back styles but they just don't suit me. I prefer a bandeau style and cannot find one that will suit me to wear to a birthday party. Stressy times!

I have more likes than dislikes! I'm pretty happy all together at the moment. I'm not sure if many people do these posts anymore but you should! Link me if you do.

Times they are-a changin'

As you can probably tell, my heart is no longer in my current blog. I've been sporadically posting for quite some time now and I am no longer excited when I start writing a post. I took the decision to just stick to make up back in October but by doing that, I feel like my personality stopped coming through in my posts. They're very clinical and I enjoyed writing my blog far more when I posted about my life and what I wanted to post about.

So what am I doing about it? I had a long chat with fellow blogger Naomi yesterday and came to realise that I'm inspired by where I live. So from now on, I will be posting more about me and my life. I'm also going to be posting far more about my home town and have already had a tonne of ideas. My blog name is going to change, as is the layout. I'm going to bring the change in gradually (as I need to get my design ideas sorted) but I will be injecting a whole lot more personality in my posts in the meantime. I'll still be posting about beauty and nails so don't worry, nothing's changing there!

I'm really excited about this, and I hope you guys stick around.

To kick things off, I'll be posting a likes and dislikes in a bit.

Model's own Ibiza mix

I have read so many posts on this nail polish so I'm conscious of repeating what's already been said. I got this polish a few weeks ago and have since worn it over black and white polish so I thought a comparison post might be useful.

The polish itself is a glitter mix of fine and larger hexagonal glitter in pink, gold, bronze and blue. I've used 3 coats in both pictures. Comparing the two, I prefer it over black. It had a flakey, glitter ball effect over black whereas I'm more conscious of the actual glitter particles over white.

I had quite a traumatic removal. I won't go into detail but I ended up spilling nail varnish remover over myself. I still went on to re-apply it over the white though.

I feel it's a great summer version of my Christmas glitter nails and will probably end up slapping it over many other polishes throughout June, July and August.

Let me know if there are any other colour you'd like to see it over.

The polish is available from Boots and the Model's Own site and costs £5

Hair growth May 2011-May 2012

I'm just stealing my Instagram photos to up date you guys as I realise not every one has Twitter or Instagram.
I've been growing my hair since Feb 2011 and this is my progress so far. I'm pleased with the result, especially since one side was so incredibly short (see here to see my previous haircut) I can't lie and say I've done anything special with it, I'm just lucky to have healthy hair that grows quickly. I have been using Herbal Essences intensive mask instead of conditioner though, and I love it. I just re purchased with my Sainsbury's order and I can't recommend it enough. Leaves my hair smelling divine and super soft.

I might update my hair history since the last one I did ended in Jan 2010. What do you think?

Revlon Cloud

I spied this gem whilst routing round Poundland, it's part of Revlon's quick dry polish range and is the most unusual colour. In some light it's grey, some it's pale blue and some it's pale lilac. Perfect for pastelly Spring nails.

Colour b4 review

I did the stupid thing and dyed my hair black last summer. I've pretty much been trying to get rid of it since but I've been left with black ends and brown roots where I've been growing my hair. I finally took the plunge and bought some Colour b4 when I saw it was much cheaper in Wilkinsons (it's was between £8-9 instead of £11-12)
Colour b4, if you've not come across it, is a home hair colour stripping kit that promises to return your hair back to it's natural colour.
Here's what my hair looked like before

Natural roots, dark ends.

And the dark ends.
I used extra strength as I was removing black, and left it on for a full hour. It's very much like mixing a home dye and applying, I found one box just about did my hair as it's very thick. Apparently the rinsing part is the most important, as this is how the previous colour is gotten rid of. I rinsed my hair for over 15 mins, dried and was left with this.

Comparatively much lighter hair! The box didn't mention whether you could use conditioner afterwards, and I forgot to check so my hair was very much like old rope!
I washed it normally the next day and here's how it's settled since.

The very ends of my hair are still pretty dark but the two colours are now far more blended. I'm a little hesitant to dye over the top, as I think the ends won't take.

All in all, I can see a massive improvement in the warmth of my hair colour which is exactly what I wanted and was happy with the result. I could use it a further 2 more times to completely remove the dark ends but I'm happy enough to give my hair a break for now.

Update- it's now been a while since I used Colour b4 and I haven't dyed it since. My hair is definitely brown rather than black now but I still have darker ends. Should I give it another go or leave it well alone now? Let me know what you think.

Black and gold

Dress-Select
Shoes-Primark
This is what I wore out last night. I made way too much effort for where we went but who cares! It's nice to do that sometimes.
I used a pigment and glitter dust from Collection for the gold and a matte black from a Sleek palette. The eye lashes are from the Elegant touch -Paris Hilton collab and I got them from Poundland.

As you can see, I've had my full fringe cut back in and I totally love it. Can't believe I went without it for so long! My blogging is very off at the moment, hence the lack of posts. I can't decide which direction I want Missdollygal to take but I'm hoping to make a decision soon. I have been using instagram for nail pictures recently so follow me on there and twitter- missdollygal for more frequent updates.
